Recessed lighting is one of the best improvements you can make to a home. However, when it comes to adding new lighting in a finished home (also known as remodel work), there are unique challenges not present in new construction.

Electricians typically don't receive training on principles of lighting design or remodel work in school. They often don't work from professionally drafted plans either. As a result, there can be a wide variety of layout methods, install processes, and overall standards used, leading to inefficient installations and inconsistent end results for homeowners.

The Recessed Lighting Specialist Training Program was developed to address this training gap. The program teaches electricians these principles and specialized skills, along with a standardized process to install recessed lighting in a finished home in the least invasive way possible.
